Councillor Andrew Cook was elected as a County Councillor in May 2017 for Herne Bay East. He is one of three representatives of Heron Ward, Herne Bay, on Canterbury City Council. As a local businessman and a member of the Pier Trust Andrew is passionate about Herne Bay where he lives with his wife and family.

Previously Andrew was a water ski boat owner for twenty years and water skied locally and in France and Italy.

Andrew is very keen on coastal amenities and has used his travelling experiences to create new ideas and help assess what our coast already has. One of the first things he does when travelling to somewhere new, is to work out what makes the the place work.

Andrew has worked solidly within the community for many years creating the Beach Hut Owners Association, being a force behind the Friends of the Memorial Park, Friends of the Herne Bay Museum and the Herne Bay Pier Trust. Andrew is now one of the longest standing trustees of the Pier Trust and plays a key role in the movement to revitalise the pier for the town.

Alongside from being a classic car enthusiast, Andrew's interests include animals, playing the guitar and, up until a few years ago, he was a keen tennis player.
