The Conservative Party is the party for hardworking people.
Since coming into government in May 2010 we've cut income tax for 25 million people, lifted 2.4 million of the lowest earners out of income tax altogether and made work pay by capping the amount of benefits any household can receive to the level of the average household wage; because we believe that no one out of work should be getting paid more than someone who goes out and works each day.
The Conservative Party is the party you can trust with the economy.
Since taking over from the last disastrous Labour Party government the Conservative Party led government has reduced the deficit by one third, and despite what critics and the opposition have said along the way the austerity programme is beginning to return the economy to growth. Over 1.3 million private sector jobs have been created since 2010 and over 1 million new apprenticeships and 250,000 new small businesses. None of this would have been possible if the Conservatives had backed down when times got tough. The Conservative Party across the country is also striving to keep Council Tax as low as possible to keep as much of your money as possible where it belongs- in your pocket.
The Conservative Party is the party of law & order.
Crime is currently down by 10% and is at the lowest level since records began. By cutting red tape the Conservative led government has freed up 4.5 million hours of Police time and put officers back on the streets, and meanwhile elected Police & Crime Commissioners have put local people in charge of their police forces. Labour liked to bog the police down with top-down targets- we've only given them one target and that is to cut crime.
The Conservative Party is the party for North Thanet.
For over 30 years now Sir Roger Gale has represented the people of North Thanet in the House of Commons and has fought our corner time and time again down the years. The Labour Party governed Council in Thanet have shown by their record that Labour are unable to deal with so many of the issues which make life difficult for local people, while in Herne Bay the years of decline under Liberal Democrat councillors are giving way to progress and regeneration since the Conservatives were elected in all but one Herne Bay seat on Canterbury City Council in 2011. Only the Conservative Party has the common sense, the straight-talking approach, the down-to-earth Councillors and candidates to drive North Thanet forward and make it an even more fantastic area to live in, work in and visit.
